Anxiety disorders

Anxiety is a normal feeling where people become anxious when faced with threat, danger or stress. This disorder is made up of a group of illnesses which manifest with symptoms such as high anxiety, extreme discomfort and tension or a combination of all three.

Depression

This condition results in people feeling sad, miserable, moody, unhappy or low with levels that can become intense over a long period, impacting both physical and mental health.

Mood disorders

People with mood disorder experience extreme variations in their mood and behavior affecting their relationships both socially and at work.

Personality disorders

Personality disorder refers to a molded way of thinking or behaviour that is extreme and inflexible. People with this disorder are unable to change their own behaviour or adapt to different situations.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

This is mental health condition results in flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety and uncontrollable thoughts about the event which is triggered by a terrifying event that has been experienced or witnessed by the sufferer.

Perinatal Psychiatry

Perinatal psychiatry refers to the treatment of mental health related conditions in people at an extremely sensitive period in their lives around pregnancy and after childbirth.

Psychotic disorders

Psychotic disorders refers to a category of mental health conditions whereby the sufferer may have confused thoughts, delusions, hallucinations, strong uncontrollable feelings or behaviour that seems abnormal.

Medico Legal

I provide psychiatric assessments and reports for Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) and treatment plans under Section 32 of the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions) Act.

Work Cover

I perform psychiatric assessments and management plans for work-related injuries.

About Me

I am a locally trained consultant psychiatrist and hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Flinders University in South Australia. I currently work as a Staff Specialist with Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and as a Visiting Medical Officer at St John of God Richmond Hospital. My private practice rooms are located in Wentworthville and North Richmond.

I have experience in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders (such as PTSD), mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, perinatal mental health conditions, and substance-related disorders. I am trained in a range of evidence-based psychotherapies, including the Conversational Model of Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and utilise pharmacological treatments where clinically appropriate.
